Dorfold Hall

Old meets new for this black tie summer wedding at Dorfold Hall

The venue

Dorfold Hall has always been so much more than a country house. Country homes have a reputation of gaudy floral curtains, dusty antiques and dark rooms, but If you've ever been to Dorfold you'll know it's the very best of contemporary and classic. Thoughtfully designed rooms, which are in-keeping with the 17th Century but also draw from contemporary eclectic interior design make for a beautiful backdrop for the mornings preparations.

As a Jux-ta-position to the more traditional home, the owners of Dorfold have added a minimalist RIBA award winning structure to the grounds to host large weddings and events throughout the year. The architectural space named L'Ecurie is subtly integrated into the stunning grounds of Dorfold Hall, rising up from the side of the estate in beautiful sharp lines and tonal textures which compliment the surroundings perfectly.

The grounds themselves are carefully and lovingly maintained throughout the year, whilst they are meticulously managed they also have a wilder element to them that you don't see at other country homes. With climbing roses and the cracked paving stones with moss creeping between them, It's a fine testament to English country gardens, and the beauty and history that can be found within them.

Hannah & Luke

It was a real honour to capture Hannah and Luke's day. The biggest reason for this, is that I used to work with Luke. Many many moons ago when I was working full time in retail - Fast forward some more years (god I'm old), Luke and Hannah's lovely enquiry landed in my inbox and naturally it was a match made in heaven. I know you should never have favourite couples, but I'm ashamed to say, they are one of my favourites. Never have I ever seen a couple laugh as much as they do, joy and fun just oozes from them (not in a gross way). And the way they look at each other could honestly make the more stony hearted amongst you melt - And it did, because I'm basically dead inside and their love for each other genuinely filled me with mushy feelings. They turned me into a sappy idiot and I don't even care because I LOVED capturing their day.

Their day

Unlike many in rainy England, Hannah and Luke's day was one of the hotter ones of 2023, a year which will go down in history as one of the rainiest summers we've ever had. The sun was shining from sunrise to sunset and gosh was it beautiful, AND emotional! They laughed, they cried, they cheers and they clapped it was a day to remember and I definitely will for years to come.
